What Can I Expect

Book your flying lessons in Devon out of Eaglescott Airfield! Climb into the cockpit and soar among the clouds for a 60-minute aviation experience, as your Evektor EuroStar trainer aircraft takes you over the rugged and majestic landscape of North Devon.

Eaglescott Airfield, which is 13 miles inland from the Devonshire coast, is free from controlled airspace regulations. That means the skies are yours, allowing you to enjoy a relaxed flying lesson under the guidance of your fully trained flight instructor.

This North Devonshire airfield boasts an impressive array of resources, with a 600m grass runway, two helicopter landing pads and an emergency crosswind runway for those fickle south-westerly winds. There are also two sizeable hangars housing both private and club-owned aircraft, as well as refuelling facilities and a cosy clubroom with catering facilities.

Your time with the Devonian flying team starts with a safety talk and an introduction to the basics of handling a plane. While you won't be responsible for the technically tricky takeoff and landing sections of your flight, you'll have plenty of chance to take over the controls. You may even handle the throttle levers, as you manoeuvre your way over the coastal towns, villages and cliffs of this pretty corner of Devon.

When it's time to head back to base, your flying instructor will take over for the final approach into Eaglescott. After touching down and rolling gently over the grass to park up, you can reminisce about your lesson over a hot cup of tea or coffee in the comfort of the airfield's clubhouse.

We are offering 60-minute flights in the school's modern EuroStar sports aircraft. Once airborne. There's lots to see from the cockpit, from Ilfracrombe and Appledore, to Croyde and Morte Point. North Devon is a very scenic place for flying, but you won't just be seeing the sights, you will be invited to fly the plane too!
