Your 20 or 30-minute Auster flight experience will take place at Fenland, the CAA licensed airfield situated between Peterborough and Boston, just outside the market town of Spalding. It’s a friendly, relaxed and informal place, free of controlled airspace and benefitting from a lovely cafe.

Back to your flight. Once you've talked through everything with your pilot host and you have a flight plan agreed, you'll be kitted out with a military flying suit, ready to make your way out for your Auster flight.

VF516 will be waiting for you. Built in 1951, this fully restored Auster aircraft still proudly flies in her silver grey Mk10 Forces training colours, reminiscent of her active role in the Forces as an Army observer aircraft.

Once onboard and settled in your seat, you’re ready for the in-aircraft briefing. Now it's time for this delightful aircraft to come to life as the engine starts. After some checks, your pilot will taxi to the runway and before you know it, you'll be airborne in the lovely Auster over the Lincolnshire Fens and the Wash.

• There's no maximum age limit however you need to be healthy and agile enough to climb into the aircraft
