What Can I Expect

Show your inner ‘bad axe’ on these axe throwing experiences in Hereford! We have vouchers for a one-hour session to lob axes into the targets at Oldfield Forge, a former farm in the heart of the Herefordshire countryside.

The first thing to know about throwing axes is that it is not about brute force of sheer strength. It’s all about technique and precision - and that means your stance, how you hold the axe and how it rotates when you release it from your hand.

To teach you all that, your expert axe-throwing hosts will be on hand throughout your experience. After a welcome and safety briefing, you will head out to the two-lane, outdoor throwing area that has been created on the edge of the woodland surrounding the farm.

Expect a few flops as your axe drops to the floor and a few near misses as the axe hits the board…and then falls to the ground. But the moment you hit that wood and the axe stays there with a resounding ‘thud’ you will feel (quite rightly!) utterly elated!

Keep hitting those targets and you will have well and truly found a new skill that you probably never knew you had in you - and it’s a lot of fun being an axe thrower!

During these axe throwing sessions at this lovely Hereford location, you will be throwing a variety of axes (mostly made at the blacksmith’s forge on the farm) on the outdoor throwing area and they are open to anyone aged 14 years or over.
