What Can I Expect
Meet the beautiful birds of prey at Hagley! These half-day experiences will see you going behind the scenes of this popular falconry centre at Webb's Garden Centre, one of the best near Birmingham and the whole of the West Midlands!
You will be surrounding yourself with a spectacular collection of more than 80 birds of prey from over 30 different species, ranging from those native to the UK, to all over the world. Hagley is home to owls, buzzards, falcons, hawks, vultures, eagles and caracara and it's an amazing mix of residents.
The centre is run as an independent charity, with a small and friendly team of dedicated falconers and volunteers who all have a passion for birds of prey that is clear to see. And it's a long-term passion too, as the charity has been running since 1983.
Your half-day experience starts with a guided tour. The centre is open permanently to the public, but you'll have the delight of being accompanied by an expert handler who'll be only too pleased to answer your questions about these beautiful creatures.
You then head out to the arena area, where you'll actually be taught how to fly at least seven different and very gorgeous raptors. It's a real honour and privilege to get so close to these stunning birds and really very exciting when a raptor lands on your gloved hand and you lock eyes!
With the maximum group size being six on weekdays and eight on weekends, you will enjoy privileged access to the birds. You can also pay on the day for non-participating spectators to join you and watch the action.
