What Can I Expect

Join Matt and Floyd for a blacksmith experience at their Leominster forge! We are offering vouchers for a three-hour taster and full-day course at the Fair Mile Forge in the Herefordshire countryside, just off the A44 Leominster to Worcester road.

This blacksmithing duo has worked together for many years and ‘persuading hot steel to conform to our wishes is second nature', as they neatly put it!

After qualifying as a blacksmith, Matt has worked at forges around the country and Floyd is a second-generation blacksmith, following in the footsteps of his father. The pair are talented, skilled and very good at teaching newbies.

All classes are kept small (no more than four), so everyone gets plenty of hands-on experience on the anvils and with the fire. You'll be working with a solid fuel coke forge and yes, it can get hot and you will get dirty, so remember to bring suitable clothing.

On the taster session you will be learning the basics of blacksmithing to make lovely little trinkets - things like keyrings and hooks.

On the full day experience, you'll spend the day at this Leominster forge, watching demonstrations and learning as you go, designing and creating your very own forged steel pieces. It could be a series of trinkets (great gifts for loved ones!) or something like a fire set or hanging basket bracket.

Of course, everything you make is yours to take home with you as a wonderful memento of the day you went blacksmithing with Matt and Floyd in Leominster!
