What Can I Expect
Boat trips from Anglesey to see the Menai Strait, the bridges and the wildlife! These fun RIB rides are the most thrilling way to experience the best of Anglesey, with superb views from the water. Suitable for all ages from four years.
The team that runs these RIB tours describes themselves as a : “Professional, hard-working and friendly bunch” which is just how we like it! You're assured of a warm welcome, from skippers who know the area and know how to entertain the passengers on the boat.
We are offering three different boat tour itineraries in the swift and stable RIB for you. They all set off from St George's Pier at Porth Daniel on the island of Anglesey.
All tours take you under the two famous bridges of the Menai Strait that connect the Welsh mainland to the island of Anglesey. You'll head right under Thomas Telford's iconic Menai Bridge. Opened in 1826, it was the world's first major suspension bridge. Your boat will then take you to Britannia Bridge, originally built by Robert Stephenson and rebuilt in the late 70s.
The stretch of water between the two bridges is called the Swellies. This refers to the whirlpooling swells around the rocks and shoals. You'll visit these on your 40-minute Swellies boat trip and hear from your skipper tales of shipwrecks and lions!
If you opt for the 60-minute Menai Adventure ride, you'll see all this and then head up the Strait to the colourful seaside and sailing town of Beaumaris, passing the stunning waterside houses on Millionaire's Row. You'll hear about the gruesome past of Gallow's Point and the former ferry at the Gazelle too.
Book for the 90-minute Puffin adventure tour and you'll see all of that and continue up to Penmon with its black and white lighthouse and the stunning Ynys Seiriol (Puffin Island). There are now breeding colonies of Atlantic Puffins on the island and it's a haven for seabirds such as Guillemots, Cormorants and Kittiwakes. We highly recommend taking a pair of binoculars for this one!
As you're on a powerful RIB, all rides include a blast along the Menai Strait when the skipper opens the throttle to treat you to some twists and turns at speed. Sounds brilliant doesn't it? Reserve your seat on a boat trip from Anglesey now!
