What Can I Expect
Work the wax on a candle making workshop in central London! You will learn how to make top quality, fragrant and natural candles during your course, taking a 30cl and a 15cl container candle home with you at the end of the day.
Different waxes can be used for lots of different types of candle shapes, such as pillar, container, tealight or votive. The choice of wax you use is super important, with choices including paraffin, beeswax, soy wax or palm wax. On this workshop, you will be using soy wax to make container candles in glass jars.
Your host for your candle making in the heart of London is Paula. She hand-crafts her candles in small batches, taking care to use only the very best fragrances and wax. Paula favours soy wax, as it is 100% natural and gives a rather lovely pastel texture. Her candles are always uncoloured, for a simple, natural and classic design.
When it comes to adding scent to your candle, you can be really quite innovative. Paula sources only the finest fragrances, from the best-selling Black Pomegranate and Sandalwood & Black Pepper, to the classic Pure Lavender, her scented candles will literally light up any room and feed your senses with their subtle infused scents.
It’s all excellent inspiration for your own candle making. Paula will advise you on combining fragrances and quantities to make beautifully balanced candles. From heating the wax and mixing the scent, to adding the wick and hand-pouring your candles into the glass jars, Paula will be with you every step of the way.
Having made your two container candles, there's time to tuck into a delicious afternoon tea whilst you wait for the wax to set. Sit and chat with your fellow newbie candle makers over tea and cakes, whilst waxing lyrical about how much fun you've had at your candle making workshop in London!
