What Can I Expect

Explore the Chiltern Hills on this steam discovery day! Spend the day at the delightful Chinnor & Princes Risborough heritage railway in South Oxfordshire, with vouchers for two or four people available.

This lovely standard gauge, historic railway runs nearly four miles from Chinnor to platform 4 at Princes Risborough, alongside the Chilterns escarpment, through some classic English countryside.

Your voucher gives you a full day out to discover the delights of this railway in the Chilterns, including a return journey on a steam-hauled train along the full length of the line. If diesel trains are running on the day you go, you can do a second journey by diesel too.

Personally, we’d start our discovery day with the bacon or sausage roll and hot drink, which you can collect from the station platform cafe at Chinnor (surely the best start to a railway day?) and is included in your voucher.

If it’s a nice day, we’d also highly recommend doing the Chinnor Circular walk. It’s self-guided and will take you around one hour at a gentle stroll pace. Setting off from the main station, you pass through the village of Chinnor, cross the railway line twice and get to see some lovely hilltop views to the railway.

You can even take a picnic, as there are tables available at the Village Green, which is on the last section of the walk, before returning back to Chinnor Station. Your voucher includes a downloadable e-guide for the walk, so you won’t get lost!

We think these Chiltern Hills steam discovery days are the best way to explore the wonderful Chinnor & Princes Risborough Railway, with a bite to eat, a drink, train travel and the opportunity to do a nice walk all included.
