What Can I Expect
Have a go at hitting the target when you go clay pigeon shooting in Suffolk! These group shooting experiences in the heart of the Suffolk countryside are all about having fun and smashing a few clays, but with safety always being paramount.
This multi-activity centre, which is owned and run by Clay Pigeon Shooting Association (CPSA) instructors, is just 10 minutes from Bury St Edmunds and Thetford in the Suffolk village of Barnham. Now it may not be one of the biggest shooting grounds, but it is certainly one of the most welcoming and friendly - and what's more you will get the benefit of one to one tuition to get you started in your clay shooting career. That's to say, even if you are part of small group out on the range at the same, an instructor will spend individual time with you.
If you already have shooting experience, the tutors will be able to help with improving your shot, such as assisting with skills needed to hit crossing targets or other tricky shots as the clays go hurtling over the Suffolk skyline. As a beginner, you will follow a more specific programme to get you accustomed to handling the shotgun, learning about shooting ground etiquette and how to hit closer clay pigeon targets using your pointing instincts.
Shooting the clays at this venue in Suffolk is always a mixed affair, with a wide variety of target presentations possible, so you'll be aiming at all sorts, from crossing/drive clays to simulated pheasant and rabbit (don't worry, there's nothing fluffy involved here, it's more about the trajectory of the clay that gives it the name!). To make sure each area is safe, the traps are set up in rigid constructed cages.
Clay pigeon shooting in Suffolk is offered as a 30 or 50 clay experience and in both cases the session is 'all in' with the cartridges, a gun to suit your ability and build, as well as safety gear and, of course, tuition all included in the price. What we love about this centre is that it is open throughout the year, so you can go clay shooting in the heart of Suffolk in all four seasons.
