What Can I Expect
Discover copper foil stained glass making techniques on these half and full-day workshops! We are offering vouchers for classes in Cambridge, Bedford and Yardley, hosted by stained glass artist Will.
Making stained glass pieces using the copper foil technique is quite different to lead stained glass. Copper foiling is more delicate and lends itself to intricate and ‘freeform’ shapes, such as leaves and flowers. It’s also often used when working with small, fiddly pieces of stained glass for things like Tiffany lamps.
Your host Will loves the copper foil method when he is creating organic and very stylised pieces of leaded glass and we think you’ll love the technique too, which is suitable for all, including beginners.
During your workshop, you will create a suncatcher or smaller, decorative pieces (birds are very popular shapes to make), with teaching from the ever patient and encouraging Will.
After cutting your coloured glass pieces, you’ll be shown how to wrap copper tape around the edges of each one, completing the assembly process with a bead of solder to fix the pieces together.
Hanging your suncatcher or decorative piece in your house will bring colour and light into your home even on the dullest of grey days. Whether you keep it or give as a gift to someone you love, they are such lovely things to look at. Make your something beautiful on a copper foil stained glass workshop!
