What Can I Expect

Exclusive skid pan training at Castle Combe! These private sessions are taught on a one-to-one basis and will show you everything you need to know about skidding situations in cars, with lots of fun too.

Whether you've experienced a skid already or not, knowing what to expect and how to handle it is essential information for any driver - and yes, that's even with things like four-wheel drive and ABS!

Indeed, the cars used are totally standard. One is front wheel drive, the other is rear wheel drive. The key to it all is the skid pan. The special low-grip surface makes it easy for the cars to spin out. Your job is to handle both cars on the pan without locking the brakes up and slipping, sliding and spinning out of control.

In the space of around two hours, you will benefit from private skid training entirely bespoke to you. So, as well as learning the basic techniques and methods, there might be something you want to try more of, or keep practising in order to perfect. It's all geared around you!

If you have a car with ABS (Antilock Braking System) you'll be keen to find out how you're supposed to approach braking. And you'll be shown the skill of cadence braking, which pre-dates all these fancy gadgets.

Of course, there's a serious side to skid control training, but once you've learned the theory, there'll be plenty of time for some nice little ‘skid games' out on the pan. The challenges will test your mettle in a fun way. Let's see if they send you into a spin or not!
