Introduction to Fishing
- Three hour session for up to 6 people
- Learn how to set up the equipment and everything you need to know to go off on your next fishing adventure
- Your instructor will show you how to catch fish, and also how to return them safely
- You will fish using good quality simple equipment that it yours to keep at the end of the fishing lesson
- Equipment provided: Fishing pole, 2 ready to use rugs and an unhooking tool, box of spare hooks, weights and floats, a landing net and a fish welfare mat
Two Day Fishing Course
- Two day course consisting of 4 modules
- Each module has an online study section that you study in your own time and an instructor lead fishing lesson
- Each online fishing module typically takes between 1 and 2 hours to complete
- Instructor lead fishing lessons are 3-4 hours each with discussion /demonstration time as well as plenty of fishing time
- All equipment and bait is provided
- Refreshments are provided with a break for lunch (not included, please bring a packed lunch or food can be pre-ordered from the on-site cafe)
- A minimum of 3 vouchers must be purchased for this experience
Course schedule
- Day One - Morning: Pole & line equipment, Basic baits, getting ready to fish, casting and catching your first fish, handling fish
- Day One - Afternoon: Rod & reel equipment, float fishing, casting further, landing nets, photographing fish
- Day Two - Morning: Quiver tip rods, ledger rigs, swimfeeders, mixing groundbait, quiver tip fishing
- Day Two - Afternoon: Electric bite alarms and bobbins, self hooking rigs, preparing pellets, bair hair rig, weighing fish

Gone fishing in Norwich! These fishing courses at Shallowbrook Lakes are especially suited to families and groups. All the teaching you need and lots of lakeside fishing fun for all ages and abilities.
The thing about fishing is that it is a great leveller. Anyone can fish. It's a multigenerational activity that brings families and groups together, for a thoroughly nice day out by the water. You don't need huge amounts of expensive kit to get started in fishing and it's a great hobby for all.
This fishing school specialises in coaching groups of beginners. No previous experience is needed and all the gear will be provided for you and your fellow anglers.
We are offering two different fishing courses for you at this Norwich base. The introductory session gives you a taste of what fishing is all about over the course of a relaxed three hours. If you really want to get into your fishing with a view to perhaps taking it up, the two day courses are for you.
All teaching is by experienced anglers who are members of the Angling Trust Coaching Scheme, whose aim is to open up the experience of learning to fish to be as inclusive as possible. By the end of the courses you should be confident enough to go fishing by yourself.
Shallowbrook Lakes, where these beginner experiences and courses take place, is a friendly fishing club just a 10-minute drive from Norwich city centre. There's secure parking, toilets and refreshment facilities on site.
