What's Included
- Trial flying lesson in a 2 seater Cessna 150 or 4 seater Piper PA28
- Informal briefing on the route to be flown followed by a walk round inspection of the aircraft
- Once inside you will be shown all of the flying controls before starting the engine
- Taxi the aircraft, under close supervision of your instructor, to the runway
- Once airbourne you will have the opportunity to take the controls of the aircraft, u sually flying it for the majority of the flight
- A personalised certificate on completion of the flight
- Opt for a 4-seater flight and the pilot will usually allow you to take an interested friend or relative to observe the lesson from the rear seat
What Can I Expect
Flying lessons out of Blackpool Airport for a taste of being a pilot at the great British seaside! This flight academy, just a five minute walk from the main airport terminal, prides itself on excellent standards of tuition, with 30 and 60-minute trial flights in two and four-seater planes.
On all of these flights you will get to see a slice of the classic Blackpool coastline from the sky, including the famous Golden Mile, the Pleasure Beach, the Pier jutting out into the sea and Blackpool Tower. On the 60 minute flights you will then head further afield to perhaps Lancaster or the southern Lakes.
At this flight academy it's not just about spotting the sights on the seafront, you will actually learn what it's like to fly a plane, so if you’re up for it, you’ll be able to take the controls during your lesson.
And don't just take our word for it. One recently qualified pilot who was a student of this Blackpool flight school said: "After an hour's 'joyride' around Blackpool and beyond, I enjoyed my flight so much I decided to study for my private pilot's licence at the academy."
And it's no surprise this centre has such a good reputation, as it is Blackpool's original flight training academy. Opened in 1947, for flying lessons and charter work, the most popular aerial excursions were flights over Blackpool.
Even today the approach coming in to land at the airport will take your breath away, as you soar in over the water, the beach and the cliffs to touch down on the tarmac runway.
Facilities at the airport are excellent too, with the Airside cafe and bar right next to the runway that is ideal for friends and family who want to watch your first flying lesson at Blackpool!

Suitable For
- Minimum age is 14 years to count towards PPL

- Maximum weight for 2 seater flights is 14 stone
- Maximum weight for 4 seater flights is 18 stone
- There is a maximum height of 6ft 6ins
Spectators
- Friends and family are welcome to come and watch the flights
- There is an excellent lounge and bar on-site, open between 9:00 and 22:00, 7 days a week
