What Can I Expect
Flying lessons at Hampshire’s famous Thruxton Airfield! We have vouchers for 30 and 60-minute trial flights in two seater and four-seater aircraft at this aerodrome near Andover.
What makes Thruxton a special airfield is the fact that there is a race track around it! The runways criss-cross in the middle, with the motor circuit going around it. On major motor sport event days there is no fixed wing flying here, but at any other time you’ll have all the airspace you need!
These experience flights out of Thruxton are operated by Cessna and Piper aeroplanes and this fully-accredited flight academy wholly owns its fleet of aircraft. Your flight school team, headed up by Chief Flying Instructor Tom Saunders, has many years of experience in flying and teaching hours.
All flights are treated as a lesson, so you’ll be very much hands on, learning things like flying straight and level, as well as turning. All teaching is bespoke, so whether it’s your very first time in a light aircraft, or you have already spent some time in the cockpit, your lesson will be adapted to you.
And of course, we have to talk about the location. Thruxton Airfield is a bustling place, with a cafe and various businesses on site (many related to aviation or motorsport). It’s also easy to get to, being just off the main A303 out of Andover.
A 30-minute lesson gives you plenty of time to have a go at the basic controls of the aeroplane, whilst an extended 60-minute flight will see you covering much of the Hampshire area and learning a lot about flying too.
