What Can I Expect
Fabulous flying lessons at Teesside Airport! Your chance to take a trial flight from this bustling international airport you might also know as Durham Tees Valley Airport, located between Darlington and Middlesborough.
We have vouchers for 30 and 60-minute experiences in two and four-seater light aircraft. Every flight is treated as a real lesson, personalised to you. This flying school has a fleet of Aquila, Cessna and Piper aircraft for you to fly in from this well-equipped base.
Being a fully operational, commercial airport means the area is controlled airspace. That gives your lesson a fascinating extra dimension, as you blend in with the turboprops and airliners arriving and departing with their passengers onboard.
Taking off on that long, tarmac runway in your little plane is quite a thrill. Your pilot instructor will handle takeoff, then once you’re flying straight and level, it’s over to you to fly the plane (don’t worry, it’s dual controlled!).
And if you want to share your experience, make sure you go for the four-seater voucher option, as you will be able to (subject to pilot approval and weight restrictions) invite a guest to join you as an observer to watch you make your first moves in piloting a plane!
Departing from a ‘proper’ airport and getting to take in the incredible views over the Tees Valley coast and countryside is pretty special. From the pier at Saltburn-by-the-Sea, to the wilds of the North Yorkshire Moors, you’ll experience it all on these flying lessons out of Teesside Airport.

Suitable For

- Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult on the airfield
- Weight restrictions (2 seater) maximum 80kg

- Participants need to be in good health and able to get on and off the aircraft unaided
- All participants should bring valid photo ID (such as a UK/EU passport or driving licence)

Anything Else
- Flight times quoted are 'chock to chock' engine start to engine stop and includes the time spent taxiing
- Opportunity to upgrade to a 90 or 120 minute flight duration for an additional charge payable when booking your date
- Two-seater flights are usually operated by Aquila aircraft
- Four-seater flights are usually operated by Cessna and Piper aircraft
