What Can I Expect
Get ready for gyro sightseeing over Manchester! These unusual air experiences out of Manchester City Airport will have you soaring over the cityscape and the countryside in a very cool gyrocopter.
A gyrocopter is a bit like the motorbike of the skies - especially if you choose to take your tour in an open-cockpit machine. There really are no sides to the thing and it's all about being open to the elements with the wind in your face. On the other hand, picking the enclosed gyro gives you a cosy cockpit and comfort a bit more akin to a light aircraft.
Once you've decided which gyro to fly in, it's all about which sightseeing itinerary to take from Manchester's fabulous City Airport. We are offering a duo of flight paths for you: a local 10-minute ‘buzz' tour, or a 30-minute countryside tour.
The ‘buzz' flight, available in closed or open cockpit gyrocopters, is perfect to give you a taste of what being in a gyro is all about. You’ll see the sights around the airport, including the criss-cross of motorways, the Trafford Centre, the green spaces - it's all totally fascinating to look down on from the air.
The 30-minute countryside excursion takes you northwards heading towards the Borough of Chorley. Rivington Reservoir is at the heart of this trip as there is so much to see all around. We love Rivington Terraced Gardens on the hillside. With its Japanese inspired gardens, Italian Lake and Pigeon Tower it's a lovely place, all thanks to a certain Mr Lever (as in Unilever!).
Ready to rock a gyro sightseeing trip in Manchester? Will it be an open or closed cockpit and will it be a buzz, or a Rivington tour? Whatever you choose it's going to be an air experience out of Manchester City Airport like no other!
