What Can I Expect

Find your way on our Introduction to Navigation course in Wiltshire! Spend the day on the wild and wonderful Marlborough Downs learning how to navigate on these fun, active and informative one-day experiences.

Rob and his team of adventure leaders love being in the great outdoors and they are geared up and more than ready to show you the way in this stunning setting. As part of the North Wessex Downs, this part of Wiltshire is fascinating to navigate and explore on foot.

And to do that, you’ll need to know where you are. And when there’s no mobile phone signal and you’ve got no battery left, you can’t rely on Google maps for your navigation, so it’s all about being able to read actual, physical OS maps and using a compass.

Setting off in small groups, your guide and host will teach you how to read a map for this area of Wiltshire, how to plan the best route and how to use useful things like route cards and pace cards, along with your trusty compass.

As well as learning navigational skills, there will be lots of useful general chat about hiking, route planning, how to stay safe and what to see in big expansive outdoor areas like Marlborough Downs.

These full-day navigation courses in Wiltshire are sure to be an eye-opener for anyone who likes to get outdoors and discover new places. These sessions will give you the confidence to get out there, knowing where you are and where you’re going!
