What Can I Expect
Join Silverstone’s Junior Rally Academy! Adrenaline tasters, half-day and full-day rallying experiences just for 14 to 17 year olds at this brilliant rally school opposite the famous Silverstone race circuit.
We have to say, this junior rally school at Silverstone is the real rallying deal. They’ve been training champions here since 1982. It’s run as a proper training academy and has been British Association of Rally Schools (BARS) accredited for many, many years.
These sessions for youngsters are held on regular Sundays throughout the main rally season (spring to autumn), using rally prepped Nissan Micras. These front-wheel pocket rockets are great fun to take around the loose gravel surface rally stage at Silverstone - and ideal for training youngsters.
The instructors (who have been doing this rallying lark for a long time and to a high level) are very patient, with driving geared to each youngster's ability. Each car runs with a group of six kids, but it’s always one-to-one tuition when actually out in the car.
The Adrenaline sessions at Silverstone offer the perfect taster for teens who want to dip their toes into rallying. The half and full-day experiences expand on those basic rally principles, with further coaching on things like left and right-handed handbrake turns and powerslide techniques, as well more track time.
The idea at Silverstone is for 14 to 17 year olds to get a real taste of what being a rally driver is all about, with teaching on all aspects, from car control and those essential rallying techniques, to how to get sponsored, using social media, mental wellbeing and even nutrition.
And a word for the family who want to watch the juniors do their rally thing, this Silverstone school has a clubhouse with a viewing balcony, so you can watch the action out on the loose gravel as the kids go for it under the watchful eye of the highly-experienced academy coaching team.
