What Can I Expect
Dive into British pub culture on the London Historic Pub Tour! Spend an evening in the company of a guide, who will take you on a walking tour of London’s best traditional ale houses with lots of anecdotes whilst you sip your drink!
Public houses have been around since Roman times. They have been (and still are) the beating heart of local communities for centuries. Despite huge development in London, many of the capital’s oldest pubs remain, as you'll find out on this fascinating walking tour.
Meeting your host at Blackfriars Station, your first stop on this historical pub tour is right opposite. This Victorian pub remains resolutely authentic and was indeed saved from demolition when fancy offices were being built all around.
Talking of offices, another pub you’ll visit was used by a certain Sir Christopher Wren as his office when St Paul’s Cathedral was being built and the stonemasons also drank there. Another pub you'll visit was a favourite of famous writers of the time and we’re sure if the walls could talk they’d have lots to say!
As you might imagine, things often got quite rowdy in London taverns and as you walk, you’ll hear stories about everything from Polly the cheeky pub parrot, to inns being brothels behind the scenes.
As well as all the scandal and history, these traditional pubs are incredible pieces of architecture. From marble bars that have stood the test of time (and million pints being poured), to ornate stained glass windows, they are enchanting and amazing places to visit.
Whether you’re a beer fan (many of the inns serve great craft ales), a history fan or just wanting to see the capital from a whole new angle, these London historic pub tours are a great pub crawl with a difference!
