What Can I Expect
Sporty motoring in a 1960s style with these Lotus Cortina driving experiences! Available at various circuits nationwide, this is your chance to drive a Ford Lotus Cortina evocation on the track for three or six miles.
Everyone knows the Ford Cortina. It was a hugely popular, if rather bland, family saloon from Ford that was a big seller. Ford executive Walter Hayes saw great potential in the Cortina and looked to Lotus's Colin Chapman to transform the car into a racing icon.
Colin did good. He took on an ordinary family saloon and turned it into something extraordinary. He then gave it to racing driver Jim Clark. Jim won the British Saloon Car Championships in 1963 in his first season driving the Mk I Lotus Cortina. The car became an icon of the motorsport world and received rave reviews.
Being particularly spritely, with excellent handling and straight-line speed, the Lotus Cortina also attracted the attention of the criminal underworld. So much so that Lotus Cortina was the getaway car of choice for Bruce Reynolds of the Great Train Robbery fame.
We think it'd be criminal if you let this opportunity to drive a stunning replica Lotus Cortina go by. It's just like stepping back in time to 1963 when you had to be what they termed 'a keen driver' to get the best out of this car. Don't expect any modern comforts inside, it's been made to look as authentic as possible - right down to the vinyl seats and chrome dashboard.
Book your three or six-mile Lotus Cortina drive at the circuit of your choice from several around the country and prepare yourself to speed off in this slice of 60s motorsport culture borne out of a very standard family saloon car from Ford.
