What Can I Expect

Book your flights in microlights over Hampshire, operating out of the lovely Popham Airfield. We are offering 30, 45 and 60-minute flights in flex-wing microlights, which give you that ‘open to the elements' flying feel!

These microlight experiences boast scenic flight paths. From flying over Winchester, down to the coast and back up over the North Wessex Downs, there's lots to see from the air around this delightful part of Hampshire.

The amazing scenery and optimal flying conditions are also what attracted Chief Flying Instructor Ian MacAdam to operate his microlight school out of Popham. Ian has been flying hang gliders and microlights since 1987 and has flown all around the world, before settling in Hampshire.

Since 2007, Ian has been a main agent for leading flex-wing microlight manufacturer P&M. You'll take your lesson in one of the school's GT450 or PulsR microlights. The PulsR is a composite semi-enclosed microlight for extra comfort. The GT450, on the other hand, is completely open-cockpit, so it's flight suit and headset on for your ‘like a bird' flight!

All experiences are treated as actual lessons, so you'll follow the NPPL(M) syllabus, which is the official microlight pilot's training programme. That means you'll learn how these machines fly, how the controls work and have a go at flying yourself.

With a full range of flight durations, it's also good to know Hampshire's Popham airfield, with its two grass runways, is open all year round. When Is It Available

• Selected weekdays and weekends from March - November
• Dates and session times are subject to availability and weather conditions

Suitable For

• Minimum age 10
• Under 18s must be accompanied on the airfield by an adult
• Maximum weight of 110kg
• Good, general level of fitness is required

Spectators

• Spectators are most welcome to go along to the airfield to watch the take off and landing
• O n-site cafe with garden and play area overlooking the runway

Anything Else

• Flight times are 'chock to chock' so include taxi time
• DVDs and/or images of your flight are available to purchase on the day
