What Can I Expect
Explore DCI Barnaby's patch on a Midsomer Murders Tour! These full day tours by coach leave central London and take you into the Shires to discover a selection of the many filming locations for the hit TV show Midsomer Murders over the years.
It has to be said, the sleepy villages and quaint market towns of the small county of Midsomer seem to have a disproportionate amount of murders. We reckon it's the deadliest county of them all. Good job DCI Barnaby is on the case to help solve all those heinous crimes in the countryside.
Based on the ‘Chief Inspector Barnaby' novels by Caroline Graham, Midsomer Murders has been on our TVs since 1997. The original detective was Tom Barnaby, played by John Nettles. After his retirement, his younger cousin John Barnaby took over the reigns, investigating literally hundreds of unexplained deaths.
What viewers love about this series is the dark humour. Only in Midsomer could someone meet a sticky end by being crushed by a wheel of cheese or a statue of themselves. And it's not us Brits who appreciate it, the show is broadcast in over 200 countries around the world.
Your guide will prep you for your visits by showing you clips of the episodes where your next landmark stop on the tour appears. You'll then have time to take some snaps and walk in those pensive footsteps of Barnaby and his Sargent sidekicks.
Locations include Thame and Wallingford, which both stand in for the county town of Causton, with the village greens, cricket pitches and traditional pubs that typify these parts of Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire. You'll see churches, town halls, country houses, thatched cottages and more, all of whom have featured in the show.
Book your seat on the Midsomer Murders tour bus and spend the whole day discovering the delightful filming locations of this long-running detective series loved by all generations.
