Having three lessons means you will really start to have an affinity with flying and feel like you are making proper progress. Time spent in the air would count if you decide to carry on your training for your private pilot’s licence.

And we have to say, teaching at all three of these locations in the North East is top notch. There’s a collective of over 30 pilot instructors, all highly qualified and experienced, so don’t be surprised if your instructor has a few aviation anecdotes to tell you about life as a commercial, business or military pilot!

There’s a good fleet of training aircraft at their disposal too. There are four-seater Cessnas and Pipers on the roll call, both solid names in the world of General Aviation, as well as the two-seater, side-by-side configured Aquila A211s, the German-built low-wing, sporty aircraft.

If you opt for the four-seater option you will, subject to pilot approval and weight restrictions, be able to invite a guest to join as an observer in the rear seats, so they can get a taste of what it’s like learning to fly.

When Is It Available

• Weekdays and weekends throughout the year
• Flights are subject to availability and weather conditions

Suitable For

• Minimum age 14
• Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult on the airfield
• Weight restrictions (2 seater) maximum 80kg
• Weight restrictions (4 seater) maximum combined weight 200kg
• Participants need to be in good health and able to get on and off the aircraft unaided
• All participants should bring valid photo ID (such as a UK/EU passport or driving licence)

Spectators

• Spectators are welcome
• Choose the 4-seater option and an interested observer can accompany you for your flight (subject to maximum weight restrictions)

Anything Else

• Flight times quoted are 'chock to chock' engine start to engine stop and includes the time spent taxiing
• Two-seater lessons usually operated by Aquila aircraft
• Four-seater lessons usually operated by Cessna and Piper aircraft
