What Can I Expect
Real farm quad biking in Dumfries! You'll be at Kirkwood Farm just below Lockerbie for these quad biking experiences. It's a proper working farm with sheep and cows to look after and lots of interesting things to see on your quad tour.
Forgot 'One Man and His Dog' it's more like 'One Man (or Woman) and Your Quad' on these experiences. The Steel family has been farming this land in central Southern Scotland since 1865 and now it's down to the sixth generation of the family to run things. And of course, quad bikes are used on a daily basis on the farm.
As well as traditional beef and sheep farming, the family has turned their hands to offering everything farm cottage holidays and wildlife safaris, to driving experiences such as these quad bike sessions. Run as guided tours, you'll get to explore this 600-acre Scottish estate.
The idea is to give you a real insight into what running a working farm is all about. You'll whizz through the lush grazing pastures where the cows the sheep roam, duck in and out of the oak woods, go round the well-stocked fishing lakes and past the various self-catering cottages and lodges that make up Kirkwood. You might even catch a glimpse of the River Annan or Dalton Burn.
As you can probably tell, the setting for these quad tours in truly lovely. This is the Scottish lowlands of Dumfries at their best. Totally unspoilt and quite magical.
But this is a working farm, so there's always something that needs doing. As part of your tour, you might find yourself helping 'move stock' as the farmers say. That means you could be herding sheep to lead them to a new field for them to graze. Even on quad bike it's not easy and you might need the help of the farm dogs to try and keep those sheep in line!
We are offering 60 minute quad biking treks on this Dumfries farm. Group sizes are kept small (generally up to four bikes to one leader) and you'll be riding your own quad for the duration. Book now for your chance to see what happens down on the farm.
