What Can I Expect
Know your dirty pour from your puddle pour when you sign up for a resin art course! Hosted by a highly skilled and creative artist specialising in wood and resin art, these half day resin art lessons at a workshop unit in Ellesmere Port are thoroughly fascinating.
All sessions are taught in small groups (no more than three people) and are totally hands-on. Norman is your tutor for the course. He first started using resin art to add an extra dimension to the clocks he was making out of tree roots. This talented artist now creates the most magnificent tabletops, worktops, countertops and wall art all using the magical moving properties of resin.
So what is resin art? Well, you'll know resin art (sometimes known as 'living' or 'fluid' art) as it has that eyecatching high-gloss finish. Colours, which usually come from acrylic paints, are mixed with epoxy resins and the different pouring methods (that's where the 'dirty' and 'puddle' pours come in!) ensure every pattern is unique. Each piece of resin-based art is individual.
Norman tells all his pupils attending his workshops that preparation is the key to resin art. You need to prepare the canvas base. You need to select and prepare your colours. You need to correctly mix and prepare your resins and hardeners. All that prep beforehand will put you in good stead for the pouring and manipulation of the resins as they move and merge.
Can anyone learn resin art? Yes! That's exactly why Norman has set up these small group courses. He provides all the safety gear, tools, resins, boards and hardeners. You just need to bring a bit of creative flair and be prepared to roll your sleeves up and get stuck in with the resins.
The end result will be glowing, shiny and mesmerisingly clear art pieces that will look sensational adorning your home. The design and colours choices are endless when it comes to resin art, so set your imagination free and get creating your very own bespoke art when you sign up for a resin art course.
