What Can I Expect
Everything’s coming up roses at this rose forging workshop! The perfect experience for couples, the two of you will work together at the forge to create a really rather lovely rose-themed decorative piece.
These workshops make ideal valentine’s, engagement, wedding or anniversary gifts for yourselves or loved ones. You’ll spend the full day at the forge in the heart of the Kentish countryside in Horsmonden, hosted by skilled blacksmith Michael.
Your experience starts with a brew and a chat about what the day holds. You’ll see an example of what you’ll be making. It’s a lovely free-standing piece with a hand-crafted metal rose, flanked by two tea-light holders. It’ll look fab on your mantelpiece or as a table centrepiece.
You’ll be shown various traditional techniques used to create all the different elements; from forging the stems, how the chunky baseplate is made and shaping the wonderfully delicate rose petals.
Working with Michael, you will then put all the pieces together using skills such as welding and hot riveting, to assemble the finished article. Take a step back and look at what you crafted together and you can, quite rightly, be very proud of each other!
These rose-forging experiences usually run on Fridays and they are bespoke to the two of you. All the gear and materials you need to create your stunning rose-themed piece is included - and of course, you take your creation home with you!
