What Can I Expect
Sea glass jewellery making with the sounds of the sea! Turning the natural treasures of the waves into wonderful, bespoke items of jewellery on these fabulous workshops in Cleethorpes.
Have you ever strolled along the beach and collected fossils, shells and fascinating things? The chances are you've already picked up some pieces of sea glass. But what actually is sea glass? Simply put, it's shards of glass that the salty waters of the sea have ground down over anything from five to 50 years.
The power of the sea is amazing. Glass is literally tumbled in the waves turning it from a sharp, translucent shard to a smooth, rounded shape with an eye-catching frosted finish. These naturally made pieces of sea glass make lovely pieces of jewellery - and that's where this workshop comes in!
Host Julie's garden studio is just a stone's throw away from the sea at Humberston near Cleethorpes. She is very much inspired by her seaside environment and, as a fully trained silversmith, loves using sea glass in her silver creations.
These workshops give you the chance to get into the trend of sea glass, crafting a ring, a pendant for a necklace, or a charm for a bracelet, all using sea glass and silver. They are both very different materials to work with, but the mix of textures makes for a truly stunning look.
Julie works only with natural sea glass and she has a large collection of different coloured pieces for you to choose from. If you have your own piece of sea glass that is suitable (it needs to be flat) you can bring it along to be incorporated into the jewellery you make.
If you love the natural look and feel of sea glass, you will adore these sea glass workshops that will see you crafting your very own personalised piece of jewellery. Book your place now!
