What Can I Expect
Silverstone sightseeing flights by helicopter - the VIP way to see the home of British Motor Racing! This duo of helicopter sightseeing tours will see you swooping over the Northamptonshire countryside taking in all the best sights.
You'll be taking off in your executive Jet Ranger helicopter from Turweston Airfield. Situated just outside Brackley, this is a really smart airfield, with the imposing modern glass-fronted tower building overlooking the lake housing the cafe, control tower and operations.
As soon as you get airborne in the helicopter, you'll see that this part of Northamptonshire really is the heart of motorsport, as you make a beeline for Silverstone. This is the race circuit that hosts big name motoring events such as the British F1 Grand Prix and Moto GP. Looking down on the whole set up you'll see just how enormous it is. Capable of welcoming up to 150,000 spectators, it is vast. You might not know that Silverstone is actually made up of several different circuits - and you'll clearly see them all from your privileged vantage point in the helicopter.
Beyond the Silverstone circuit, there's still so much more to see in Northamptonshire by helicopter. From the winding River Ouse and pretty little villages, to rally schools and the ancient route that is the A5 (it SO has that typical Roman straightness when seen from above!) it's a fascinating route you'll be flying.
If you opt for the 15-minute heli tour, you'll get a good look at the whole Silverstone area, as well as flying around the exclusive Stowe School, an impressive Grade I listed building, set in acres of lovely countryside, adjacent to the National Trust's Stowe Gardens.
We highly recommend opting for the longer 30-minute sightseeing flight, which takes you beyond Silverstone and Stowe to fly over the likes of 16th Century Castle Ashby House and Althorp Estate. The family seat of the Spencer family, the extensive gardens include the Princess of Wales's Island on a small oval lake, Diana's last resting place.
Seats for both Silverstone helicopter tours are available to book online individually, or you can get a group of four of you together to book the 15-minute tour on an exclusive basis, which means it's just the four of you in the chopper. A superb treat that actually works out cheaper!
