What Can I Expect

Sharpen your forging skills on a sword making course in Leominster! You'll be spending two and half days with Matt & Floyd at their Fair Mile Forge learning how to work that metal, to create a thing of beauty.

Whilst the experience may not be suitable for absolute beginners, if you have some practical skills, you will really enjoy this course. Run over two full days and a half, you'll really be able to hone your forging abilities and take them to the next level.

Hosts Matt and Floyd are highly skilled in creating bespoke metal pieces using traditional tools and techniques. And indeed, swords have been made in this fashion for centuries. You'll be designing and creating a classically-shaped sword, complete with blade, cross guard, handle and pommel.

That's a lot of different elements to create, using lots of different forging and metalwork methods, but your pro blacksmith hosts will be with you every step of the way to encourage and teach you.

Once all the components have been made, it's time to assemble your sword. A few neat finishing touches later, and you've got yourself a mighty fine specimen of forged artistry to be very proud of.

When Is It Available

• Wednesdays throughout the year, subject to availability
• Courses take place over 2.5 days starting on Wednesdays at 09:00 and finishing on Fridays at 13:00
