What Can I Expect

Tiger Moth flights in Dorset flying out of the wonderful Compton Abbas airfield! We are offering 15, 30, 45 and 60-minute vintage flights out of this unique airfield that has a reputation for being friendly, welcoming and bustling too.

Legend has it that in the 1960s, a local Dorset aviator with a Tiger Moth persuaded the farmer who owned this very distinctive plot in Dorset to let him land and store his biplane there. Word got out about this lovely location and more and more aeroplanes joined in. That's why it's highly appropriate to be flying Moths at Compton.

So what makes this airfield in Dorset so special? Sitting high on a plateau on the western edge of Cranborne Chase, this aerodrome is in the heart of an assigned Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and it sits at 803ft above sea level with runways that drop away at each end.

And of course, being an open-cockpit aircraft, you will be afforded amazing views of those chalk hills and surrounding Dorset countryside whilst you're on your Tiger Moth flight.

Once you're airborne out of Compton Abbas in your Tiger Moth, you'll be treated to those superlative views. As you get used to the buffeting of the wind (it's an open cockpit after all), drink in those vistas as you gaze out through the wing struts of this marvellous biplane. All that coastline, greenery and rolling hills around Compton Abbas and beyond is stunning.
