What Can I Expect
Chocks away for Tiger Moth flights in Yorkshire! Take to the skies of ‘God's own country' in a vintage De Havilland Tiger Moth flying out from Breighton Airfield near Selby.
Everyone should experience a flight in a Tiger Moth at least once in their life. It's an iconic plane and it's an utter delight to fly in. Yes, it's got an open-cockpit, which means it's noisy and a little windswept, but that is what gives it so much charm. This is proper aviation!
Of course, the Moth is famous as an RAF trainer. And indeed, the Moth you'll be flying in from Breighton was built in 1939 for that exact purpose. With serial number N9372, this Moth served with the RAF in Wiltshire,Warwickshire and Cambridgeshire during the war years, training new pilots.
Demobbed in 1953, N9372 entered civvie life and, after several owners, has now settled in Yorkshire under the civil registration G-ANHK. Resplendent in RAF trainer colours, this DH-82A Moth will fly you for 15, 30 or 60-minutes above the skies of Selby and beyond.
And we have to say, Breighton is a great aerodrome to fly from. It's an ex-RAF heavy bomber base, which then transformed into a cold war nuclear missile launch site. Thankfully, the airfield is now leisure-based under private ownership and specialises in classic and vintage aircraft.
With lots of history, great on-site facilities and some very interesting planes based at Breighton, aviation fans will love the chance to get airborne in a Tiger Moth. What's more, the WW2 feel is right there, with a flying suit, goggles and helmet provided for all flyers!
