What Can I Expect
It's historic aviation all the way on these RAF-themed Tiger Moth Heritage Tours in Norfolk! Your mode of transport for these tours is a wonderful vintage Tiger Moth biplane, taking off from Yarmouth (North Denes) Heliport.
Focussing on the rich aviation and World War Two history that surrounds Norfolk, tours offer the chance to experience history in the air. You'll get an utterly unique viewpoint on everything from discrete RAF bases, to country houses that became squadron bases during WW2.
You’ll be discovering No 100 Group RAF, which had a very special Bomber Support role during the Second World War. Charged with fighting the Luftwaffe on a technical level, the 100 Group came up with clever things like radar jammers fitted to de Havilland Mosquitos to confuse enemy pilots.
On these heritage tours, the de Havilland Tiger Moth will fly over key 100 Group locations, such as former RAF Swannington (where squadrons under 100 Group were based) and Foulsham airfield, which was in operation from 1942 to 1945.
You’ll also see places like former RAF Oulton and nearby Blickling Hall (now managed by the National Trust), which was requisitioned during the war to house officers and service men and women, becoming the No100 Group RAF HQ.
If you book an extended tour, you’ll fly further afield, taking in the likes of Little Snoring (a former RAF base, now a private airfield) and ex-RAF Langham with its distinctive training dome, before flying back along the Norfolk seaside.
Your Tiger Moth Heritage Tour is sure to be filled with fascinating historical sights - and all with the added bonus that you'll be gazing down at everything from the open cockpit of a genuine military trainer Tiger Moth that you can have a go at flying yourself!
