What Can I Expect
Learn all about traditional leaded stained glass on these workshops in Cambridge, Bedford and Northampton. We are offering vouchers for half and full-day experiences, where you’ll be making a lead stained glass panel.
Your host for these sessions is Will. He’s a very talented stained glass artist. His teaching style is relaxed and he’s very patient and encouraging. Classes are suitable for all levels, including beginners.
Will’s workshops are very much hands-on, so within around 15-minutes you will already be cutting pieces of glass to shape. A few test cuts done, it’s time to create your pattern, using straight and curved cuts on different coloured pieces of glass.
When it comes to assembling, you’ll be shown how to put your pieces together, using lead cames, which are lengths of metal strips that you cut to size. This is where you see your design come to life.
Then comes a bit of soldering and some neat little cement finishing techniques and you’ve got yourself a fine piece of leaded stained glass. Hold it up to daylight and the effect is just wonderful!
Many pupils on these leaded stained glass workshops hang their creations in front of a window in their home or conservatory, or they can be used in the garden as a lovely decorative piece.
With three locations to choose from (Yardley Hastings Arts Centre, Ravensden Village Hall and a community centre on the outskirts of Cambridge), these brilliantly creative half and full-day leaded stained glass workshops are ideal for budding hobbyists in Northamptonshire, Bedfordshire and Cambridge areas.
