What Can I Expect

The ultimate helicopter day at Suffolk's very lovely Beccles Aerodrome! We have packages for 2 x one-hour lessons in two and four-seater helicopters, with behind the scenes access and overnight accommodation included, for two people.

We love these ultimate days. You'll spend the whole day at Beccles as VIP guests. You'll start with a tour of the facilities, including a visit to the control tower. You'll see how the coming and going of aircraft (known as ‘movements') are overseen and managed - and it's thoroughly fascinating!

Then it's time to head to the aviation office to meet your instructor pilot who will run through what your ultimate helicopter day entails. The first thing to do is discuss flight plans for your helicopter lessons, then it's a pre-flight briefing before heading out to the helipad for your first of two flights.

Hovering about the Suffolk coast and countryside you'll appreciate what a stunning corner of East Anglia it is. But no time to ponder, you're the pilot of the machine and you will be flying the helicopter!

After a de-brief, it's over to the popular on-site Club Virage Cafe for a spot of lunch with drinks included for the two of you. It's a superb place to eat, with a converted double decker bus and a sunny terrace overlooking the runway.

The afternoon will see you take your second helicopter flight. Once again, it's treated as an actual lesson, so you will be learning to fly the thing!

Once the flying has stopped, your ultimate day at Beccles doesn't end there. You are invited to stay overnight in one of the cool little wooden cabins. Completely self-sufficient with a kitchen and ensuite, they are fun and cosy places to stay right on the airfield.

• Maximum weight restrictions: R22 is 15 stone / R44 is 21 stone

Spectators

• Spectators are welcome to come to the aircraft to take photos & watch your departure and arrival
• For 4-seater R44 lessons one guest may accompany you for your flight subject to a minimum age of 14 and maximum weight of 21 stone

Anything Else

• Cabri G2 helicopters are also available at this venue for an additional charge payable locally.  Please enquire when booking your date (maximum weight 17 stone)
