What Can I Expect

Vintage buses and steam trains on these fantastic Essex tour days! Set off for a day of nostalgic journeys that hark back to a bygone age of travel, with lots to experience along the way.

Meeting your tour guide at Epping Station in Essex, you’ll board the vintage bus for the journey to North Weald, the main operating hub of the wonderful Epping Ongar Heritage Railway. There’s time for a look around, before boarding your steam-hauled train to Ongar.

The branch line winds through some lovely Essex countryside and on arrival at Ongar, you’ll be guided around the station and the market town, then you can go visiting the famous cheese shop and St Andrews at Greensted, the world’s oldest wooden church, as well as walking a short section of the famous Essex Way.

There will be free time for you to explore Ongar and there are lots of lovely cafes and restaurants for a bite to eat or a coffee.

Steam training it back to North Weald station, you'll then have the option to take another train to travel beyond the station and through the rather magical Epping Forest on a round trip. You’ll then hop back on the vintage bus to be taken back to Epping Station, where your tour day ends.

Combining steam trains, diesel trains, vintage buses and history, these days out with a guide are a great way to discover both this charming heritage railway and the town of Ongar. Book your vintage bus and steam day in Essex online now!
