What Can I Expect
Brilliant Biggin Hill Chipmunk flights! Book a slot for a flight in a de Havilland Chipmunk for a taste of vintage aviation in the Kentish skies over famous Biggin Hill Airfield.
We are offering 30 and 60-minute Chipmunk flights out of Biggin. You're sure to know that this much-loved, low-wing trainer aircraft enjoyed a very long career with the forces, training young Air Cadets and the fighter pilots of the future. It's a plane that holds a special place in many pilots' hearts.
Built at de Havilland's Broughton-Hawarden factory in 1952, DHC-1 Chipmunk serial number WP925 entered service with the RAF in 1953. After several postings, this Chippie flew as a primary trainer at the Light Aircraft School in Middle Wallop until 1997.
Now, this Kent Chipmunk is a much-loved resident of this Biggin Hill flying club, as part of their historic aircraft collection. Resplendent in classic RAF trainer livery, seeing WP925 in the air is a true delight. And there's no denying the very best view is from the cockpit, so when you book yourself a front-row seat in the Chipmunk, you'll experience all the sensations of flying in this superb aircraft.
All flights are operated as lessons, so (if you're up for it) there'll be a chance for you to take the controls during your experience. Just imagine being in command of the Chipmunk whilst flying over this former fighter command base? Amazing memories right there, in the air!
And to round off your Biggin Hill Chipmunk flight experience, there'll be time to have a little look around the Shipping & Airlines hangar. This is where WP925 resides, alongside delightful examples of other vintage planes including Dragonfly, Hornet Moth and Miles Messenger aircraft. A wonderful flight and visit for all classic aviation fans available, available to book now.
