What Can I Expect

One for budding wizards - our wand making workshop! Design and forge your very own metal wand during these brilliant experiences at Oldfield Forge in Hereford that are suitable for all ages from seven years.

Whether you’re a Dumbledore, Harry Potter or Merlin fan, these wand workshops are for you. Creating your little piece of magic is going to be a lot of fun, as you learn classic blacksmithing techniques to forge your piece.

The team at Oldfield, headed up by founder Aaron, is friendly and enthusiastic. Your wand making session will be hosted by members of the team who will have you spellbound as you discover the world of forging metal using heat and hammers!

Over the course of the next three hours, you will be shaping raw iron into your magical wand. Using the heat of the forge and traditional blacksmithing tools to hammer and shape, that metal rod will be transformed into your very stylish hand-crafted wand.

Kids of all ages (including adults!) absolutely love these workshops, as they are creative, noisy, messy and they get to do something they would never normally do. For most, it’s their first experience of blacksmithing.

Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult at all times on these wand making workshops. Grown ups - rather than just coming along as chaperone, why not buy a voucher to participate and make your own wand? And don’t forget, all wizard forgers get to take their wand home with them!
