What Can I Expect
White water tubing at Nottingham's Holme Pierrepont! It's manmade, it's madcap and splashtastic. Be prepared for some adventures of the white water kind as you step off the grassy banks into the wild rapids in your tube at this purpose-built centre in Nottingham.
Destination Holme Pierrepont Country Park, south east of Nottingham city centre. At first glance it's a tranquil park alongside the River Trent with miles and miles of peaceful walking to be done…until you come across the National Watersports Centre, home of the rapids that were made for riding.
It's time to don a wetsuit then and see what this Nottingham water activity centre has to offer. We love the white water tubing. It might look like a simple rubber 'inner tube' type ring, but this is a super tough and resistant outdoor river version that loves nothing better than to be bounced, bumped and bashed all over the choppy waters. Best add a helmet to that kit list then.
You will also need another little device called a hand paddle for this activity. It's basically a neoprene glove that gives you excellent resistance in the water so you can effectively 'steer' your ring-shaped craft with it as you tackle that fast-flowing white water.
All the tubing gear you need is included and there'll be an initial practice session on the quieter waters before your rapid run. The bespoke course gives you 800m of controllable white water, meaning all sorts of conditions can be created, from more gentle ripples to rip-roaring surges. And yes, you will most definitely be getting wet when you go white water tubing in Nottingham!
