What Can I Expect
Book a Swinton estate yurt and go off-grid (but in the nicest way possible!) for a back-to-nature break in North Yorkshire! We are offering two-night breaks in cosy, meadow yurts sleeping up to four guests.
Just seven of these UK-made yurts make up the Swinton meadows yurt project. You're on a hillside in a corner of the vast estate's pastureland and sweeping views of the moors and dales are all around you. And whether it's a hike up those hills or a gentle stroll around the parklands, you'll feel peaceful and at one with nature.
Mind you, that's not to say these yurts lack comfort. Yes, you're off grid so there's no electricity in the yurts, but you do have super comfy proper beds with crisp linen, fresh towels and even robes and slippers. All yurts have a sink, a wood burning stove and a private en-suite toilet attached.
Outside on the veranda you'll be basking in the sunshine, listening to the birdsong. As afternoon slips into sundown and the evening, the fire pit creates a cosy atmosphere where you can all gather and cuddle up under a soft, fluffy throw.
Civilisation isn't far away, with kitchen facilities and hot showers at the nearby farmhouse and barn, where you'll also find the Bivouac cafe serving breakfast, lunches and early evening snacks.
Guests of all ages will (if you can drag yourself away from your cosy yurt) love exploring the Swinton estate. Miles and miles of paths lead you through woodlands, lakes and gardens, all of which are in the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Make sure you take a peak at the Druid's Temple - a hidden folly just a short walk from the Bivouac cafe.
