What Can I Expect

A glider, but with an engine. This unusual way to get airborne over the Cornish coast and countryside is lots and lots of fun. In essence, you have the large wingspan of a glider, but as there’s also an engine, you can take off using your own power. So there’s no need for a tug plane or winch when you’ve got a motorised glider!

Inside the closed cockpit you’ll see that the glider is dual control and has side-by-side seating. That means you can observe everything that is happening and easily take the controls to fly the glider yourself - and that’s exactly what you’ll be doing on these experiences.

Adam is your instructor host. He had his first taste of glider flying at 15 years old and has been hooked ever since. This experienced pilot has chosen the Scheibe Falke motor glider for these lessons. It’s a reliable, rugged and easy-to-fly aircraft that is a joy to fly.

Once airborne, you will be soaring over some of Cornwall’s loveliest coastline spots, as Perranporth Airfield’s runways run literally along the gorgeous St Agnes coast. And depending on your flight path, you may also glide over the likes of the Eden Project, the Minack Theatre, St Ives and Land’s End.

As well as fab views, you’ll be given the chance to take the controls and actually fly the glider yourself. It’s an amazing feeling when you get your moment to be pilot of this Scheibe Falke motorised glider. Make sure you savour the moment!
