What Can I Expect

Step into a shoe making workshop in Kent! Join designer Hetty Rose at her Maidstone studio for a full-day workshop learning how to hand-craft your very own pair of beautiful bespoke shoes.

Since creating her own business, Hetty has built a successful name for herself creating stunning hand-made shoes. Having graduated from London College of Fashion, Hetty worked for renowned shoe designers in London and Italy, but it's her travels to Japan that have proved to be a huge inspiration for her style.

Vintage kimonos. Stunning fabrics with gorgeous designs and colours that are works of art in themselves. Hetty sources her kimonos from Japan and up-cycles them for her shoe making workshops. The kimono silks make an exquisite upper to the shoes, the perfect compliment for the buttery-smooth leather used on the heels.

You will be very much hands-on during these workshops. Under the tutelage of Hetty, you'll be moulding the kimono textile over the last, to create the shoe. Having covered the heel in leather, you'll be shown how to attach it. With the addition of leather in-soles, you've crafted a wonderful pair of shoes to be adored.

Before you attend your workshop, Hetty will get in touch to share the fabric selection process with you and ask you what type of shoe you'd like to make. You could handcraft a pair of stylish sling-backs, flat ballerina pumps, a heeled sandal or a mule.
