What's Included

  • 1.5 Hour SUP Yoga session
  • Tuition from a qualified yoga teacher, ASI SUP instructor and qualified ASI SUP yoga instructor
  • Short 20 minute on-land briefing covering safety, equipment and any questions
  • Try out various yoga poses and postures on the river or on the lido
  • You will form part of a group of 10/8 for this session

What Can I Expect

SUP Yoga - if you're new to SUP, new to yoga or new to both, these sessions in Worcester and Cheltenham are perfect for you. Learn the gentle art of yoga on a stand up paddle board on these tranquil beginner lessons on the river or the lido.

Alex is your teacher and host for these paddle board yoga sessions. She is a dedicated yogi who is fully qualified to teach yoga and stand up paddle boarding, so you know you're in good hands for your lesson.

Of course, it's natural to wonder if you'll actually be able to do yoga on a board whilst floating on water. As Alex says, we are so much more capable than we think. So with the right gentle encouragement, you too will be able to reap the benefits of this holistic approach to well-being.

The settings for these yoga lessons afloat are just perfect. The crystal-clear, heated waters of Cheltenham's delightful Art Deco lido are inviting and lovely. For a more at one with nature feel, the SUP yoga sessions on the River Avon south of Worcester near Pershore are ideal. It's a calm and tranquil section of the river, surrounded by wildlife.

After onshore briefings, you'll get your boards out on the water. After paddling out to the anchor rig and attaching yourself (so you don't float away!), it's time to inhale, exhale and flow gently through a series of yoga poses and postures on your board for around an hour.

Group sizes for SUP yoga are kept to a maximum of 10, to ensure all sessions are calm, convivial and enjoyable. Alex is a wonderful host, mindful of any nervousness you may feel and really encouraging. We think it's time you gave SUP yoga a go! 

Availability

  • Experiences generally run between May - October 
  • SUP at Cheltenham lido on Mondays 9:30 - 11am
  • SUP yoga on the river on Thursdays 18:00 until 19:30

Suitable For

  • For the lido minimum age 12 (under 16s with a guardian)
  • For the river minimum age 16
  • Participants must be able to swim 50m unaided

Spectators

  • Not suitable for spectators

Anything Else

  • Cheltenham Lido facilities include - Full changing facilities inlcuding showers, lockers and toilets. There is also a pay and display carpark and an on-site cafe
  • Arden Sailing Club facilities include - toilets, changing rooms, light refreshments, picnic tables and secure parking onsite
  • You will need to dress for the weather in light quick drying gym wear. On cooler days a wetsuit is optional for the river (not provided)
  • During the warmer months just a swimming costume or leggings and a t-shirt if you prefer is recommended
  • Please bring a towel and spare change of clothes
