What Can I Expect

How about a welding experience? This is your invite to join professional welders in their industrial workshop near Carmarthen for the day to learn how to weld.

This unusual experience in South Wales is really popular. Whether you've just always fancied having a go at welding, or you actually want to learn so you can do your own projects at home, it's totally ace. There's something about the sparks and flames that make it exhilarating, yet highly skilled and even artistic.

Your hosts have backgrounds in welding, automation, machining and blacksmithing. Their skills fuse and combine at this professional workshop on their farm estate in the hamlet of Tre-vaughan, just north of Carmarthen.

It's as hot, noisy and dirty as you'd expect, but amazing things are created in the midst of all that heat. From elegant railings, to impressive staircases, it's all about the metal here. The main man Will has been creating, designing and teaching metalworking skills here since 2010.

Once you're all kitted up (the iconic darkened glass welding helmet is a must!), you'll be shown the basic techniques of arc and MIG welding. Arc is when you use the burning metal stick to create an arc to weld thicker metals. MIG (Metal, Inert Gas) uses wire on a machine feed mixed with an inert gas supply to weld the metals.

The theory is quite in-depth, but you won't get bogged down in all that, it's time for you to get ready with the welding machine and weld those sturdy and consistent joints!

The welding game is all about angle, direction and speed. Get all that nailed and you're well on your way to becoming a welder. You'll be amazed what you learn in just one day at the workshop. Book your welding experience now!
