What Can I Expect
Go gorge scrambling in Galloway! We are offering vouchers for adventures in the gorges around Castle Douglas in the splendid Dumfries & Galloway region of Scotland - and it’s going to be a lot of fun.
Gorge scrambling has been described by instructor Mike as ‘the little brother of canyoning’ and he’s not wrong. It’s all about exploring by scrambling and jumping, but without the massive rock drops and cliff jumps into deeper, faster flowing water.
For the Mannoch Gorge experience, you will be discovering secret waterfalls and doing some swimming and jumping along the way. On this gorge adventure you will definitely be getting wet and it’s the more daring of the two offered in Galloway.
The Otter Gorge experience is quite unique, in that you will be tackling a variety of edifices. You’ll be abseiling down a bridge with water flowing all around you, walking the rope bridge, conquering the Giant’s Staircase and exploring what Galloway locals know as the smuggler’s cave. On this one you won’t be getting quite so wet, but you will be splashing around.
All sessions are guided and hosted by one of the expert Galloway outdoor instructors and all the gear you need is provided for you.
Gorge scrambling at these gorgeous Galloway locations is a great introduction to the sport, with plenty to keep the daring amongst you happy too. The minimum age is nine years, so it’s a fun day out for all ages!
Availability
- Weekdays and weekends throughout the year, subject to availability
- This experience runs in all weather conditions unless water levels are too high (which is rare) in which case your experience will be rescheduled

Suitable For
- Minimum age 9
- Under 16s will need to have a consent form signed by a parent or guardian
- You must feel confident in the water and be able to swim
- If you have any medical conditions or previous injuries please make this known at the time of booking

- Please bring trainers with good grip that you don't mind getting wet, a change of clothers, swim wear and a towel
- A changing robe will be provided for you to use on the day
